The Tax Practitioner Board (TPB) have released the education standards for BAS Agents to complete their GST/BAS taxation principles course.

The TPB have worked closely with IBSA, TAFE and other RTO's to ensure that BAS agents have access to 'Board approved' courses.

The longer term requirements for an approved course in basic GST/BAS taxation principles have been drawn from existing Certificate IV units to develop a BAS Agent Registration Skill Set:

  • Carry out business activity and instalment activity statement tasks FNSBKG404A; and
  • Establish and maintain a payroll system FNSBKG405A.

Those who hold at least a Certificate IV Financial Services (Bookkeeping) or a Certificate IV Financial Services (Accounting) or higher will need to complete the above courses if their qualification did not contain a course equivalent.  This is needed to maintain a BAS Agent Registration with the Tax Practitioner Board.

This course is being conducted and hosted by TAFE NSW and is available to the general public.

This course will be fully assessed and is not offered by RPL. Consequently it meets the requirements of the Tax Practitioners Board.  This is a four (4) day course where you will attend and be with like minded and taught by industry professionals.

Please register your interest for this course by completing the following and we will forward the information to you.

REMINDER: Currently only available in Newcastle, NSW
