Partner of Jirsch Sutherland Pty Ltd, spoke at our November 2010 network meeting on, the effect of the Personal Property Securities Act on retention of title, priorities between creditors and enforcement of security rights. This is a topic that will impact the way we do business and it starts next year. Replacing up to (70) seventy separate pieces of legislation this produces a one stop shop for the registration and prioritising of the relationships formed by business.
Whilst this introuduction may sound 'dry' it was indeed a very interesting subject and something that we all need to be aware of in 2011.

Jeanette spoke to the Bookkeepers about their personal image that they portray when different meeting scenarios are presented to them. For example: meeting a farmer to ‘The books' would be a very different image that you would portray if you were to meet an Accountant to seek work.

It was my great pleasure to interview James Hoare of Xero . The topic was around the 'cloud software' technology - what is it and how can it serve the Bookkeeping community. There were many concerns that I had regarding the security around this type of on line accounting software program but my concerns were quickly put at ease.
