Fair Work Act 2009
From 1 January 2010, NSW employers and employees previously covered by the NSW state award system (mainly sole traders and partnerships) move into the national workplace relations system administered by the federal government. Transitional arrangements are now in place for businesses previously operating under the state industrial relations system. If you are running a business in NSW there is some information that you need to know. www.fairwork.gov.au
If anyone is wondering about the new Workplace Relations laws - Fair Work Act 2009 and how the heck it applies to you and or your clients a good place to start is www.fairwork.gov.au - this is a one stop shop for employees/employers that come under the Federal system. Fair Work Australia are conducting educatinal webinar's, etc, (just did one) and it's very useful so you can get a heads up on what is going on. There hasn't been a great deal of marketing done and this website/links etc was a huge help to me.
News Flash: NSW has this week passed legislation to refer its private sector industrial relations power to the Federal Government. The legislation will extend the coverage of the Fair Work Act to private sector employees and employers in NSW.
