UB: What has been your biggest challenge in business and how did you overcome it?

CJ: Starting off from scratch is always a hard way to build a business, but by persistence and determination, with a plan I have now built 5 businesses from scratch. Starting off I did a lot of knowledge building through reading and other methods, and recommend this to be ongoing. One tool that I have developed to keep me focussed is what I call an IPAR (income Producing Activity Report) on which I daily check off a point for each activity I do towards achieving my goals.
 
UB: If you had to start your business or employment again from scratch, what would you do differently?
 
CJ: Go harder and look for more leveraged solutions to the growth sooner.
 
UB: Who do you admire and why?
 
CJ: Brad Sugars as the founder of ActionCOACH; as he has done it many times over, talks a lot of practical common sense, and is a great leader.

UB:
It takes a lot of determination and dedication to succeed in business.  What keeps you motivated?
 
CJ: Paying the bills is always a solid motivator, but really doing what I do is rewarding when I see the changes I make in other peoples lives. Also, having a great support team around me, including a coach to keep me accountable.
 
UB: What are your 3 biggest success tips? 
 
CJ: Only 3?? OK then...
1.      Educate yourself.... embark on a continuous learning plan, reading, watching videos, audio programs, workshops... make sure you learn something new every day.
2.      Have an Action Plan... be clear about why and what you are trying to achieve. Make sure that the plan is reviewed and updated quarterly to ensure that actions are completed and on track.
3.      Get a Coach or mentor... like a sports person has a coach to help expand their comfort zone, business people need one too to stretch us. Without someone to keep you accountable, give you guidance and help with your motivation, how do we know we are really maximising our potential?
